A cultural event expected to attract 500,000 people to Birmingham’s Centenary Square this summer is inviting sponsorship from Birmingham businesses.
Skatefest 2010 is a two-week-long event, organised by Bloomango Events in conjunction with Birmingham City Council, and aims to bring action, glamour and culture to the UK’s second city.
Starting on Saturday August 14th, Skatefest 2010 will see a temporary roller-rink erected in Centenary Square, while a packed timetable of activities and entertainment will transform the square into a buzzing hub for cultural diversity.
Marcia Blackwood, director for Bloomango, said: “This is an idea that has been blossoming for some time, and thanks to the support of Birmingham City Council and Broad Street BID, it will come to fruition in August.
“We’re currently seeking a number of partners to get involved with sponsoring the event which, in addition to the roller-rink itself, will feature entertainment and exhibitions including a gospel choir, jazz, rock and Bhangra music and salsa dancing. Colleges and community groups from the West Midlands have also been invited to educate visitors about the services they provide.
“We have a number of opportunities available for sponsorship, from branding on the rink floor or on the overhead blimp to hoarding sponsorship, while there is an attractive support package to raise sponsors’ profile throughout the region. The conversations we’ve had show that people are keen to get involved in this – the popular ice-skating rink that has been situated in the square in the past has been a huge success and businesses and organisations within the region are familiar with the benefits of being associated with something on this scale.
Sponsorship packs detailing the various packages available can be downloaded here, where the event timetable will be regularly updated. Organisations and businesses interested in a presence at the event should contact the events team on 0844 556 1112.
